How to Use Recipify

Everything you need to know to scan, organize, and cook your way through your recipe collection.

Getting Started

1

Download the app

Recipify is available for free on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). Download it and open it up.

2

Start as a guest or create an account

You can use Recipify immediately without signing up. Guest recipes are saved locally on your device. Create a free account to sync your library to the cloud and access it across devices.

3

Explore your library

Your recipe library is the home screen. Newly scanned recipes appear here. Use the search bar at the top to find recipes by name, ingredient, or tag.

Tip: If you start as a guest and later create an account, your local recipes will automatically be migrated to your new account — nothing is lost.

Scanning a Recipe

1

Tap the camera button

From the library screen, tap the camera icon in the center of the bottom navigation bar to open the scanner.

2

Frame the recipe

Hold your phone flat over the recipe so the text is clearly visible and well-lit. The entire recipe — including title, ingredients, and steps — should fit in the frame if possible.

3

Capture and confirm

Tap the shutter button. Recipify will read the text and structure it into a clean recipe. Review the result and tap Save when you're happy with it.

Tip: Good lighting makes a big difference. Natural light or a bright overhead light gives the best results. Avoid shadows falling across the page.

Editing a Recipe

1

Open the recipe

Tap any recipe card in your library to open the detail view, which shows the full ingredient list and step-by-step instructions.

2

Tap Edit

Tap the edit icon (pencil) in the top-right corner to open the edit form. Here you can update the name, ingredients, steps, category, and tags.

3

Save your changes

Tap Save Recipe when you're done. Your edits are saved instantly — or synced to the cloud if you're signed in.

Tip: You can add tags like "quick", "vegetarian", or "family favourite" to make recipes easier to find later.

Organizing Collections

1

Go to Collections

Tap the Collections tab (second icon in the bottom navigation) to see all your collections.

2

Create a new collection

Tap + New Collection, give it a name (like "Holiday Baking" or "Weeknight Dinners"), and tap Create.

3

Add recipes to a collection

Open any recipe, tap the collection icon, and select which collections to add it to. A recipe can belong to multiple collections.

Tip: Collections are a great way to build themed menus. Try "Sunday Roasts", "Quick Lunches", or "Grandma's Classics".

Cooking Mode

1

Start cooking

Open a recipe and tap Start Cooking. This opens Cooking Mode — a full-screen, distraction-free view designed for use at the stove.

2

Follow the steps

Steps are shown one at a time in large, readable text. Swipe or tap to move between steps. Your screen stays on automatically so it won't go dark mid-cook.

3

View all ingredients anytime

Swipe left from any step to see the full ingredient list — handy when you need to double-check a quantity.

Tip: Cooking Mode works completely offline. Once a recipe is saved, no internet connection is needed to cook from it.
